what lenght is 100g ball of chunky wool?

i am trying to knit a jumper for my husband but the pattern says i need 1500 metres of chunky wool how many balls of 100g would that be equal too

The yardage (length) varies. If your pattern gives a specific brand, you can look it up at http://www.yarndex.com or at the manufacturer’s website.

If all the pattern says is “1500 metres of chunky wool,” you could look up a few yarns to get a rough idea. For example, Twilleys Freedom Wool is 50m per 50g ball, so 15 100g balls would equal 1500 m.

If you already have a specific chunky yarn you want to use, the ballband should state the yardage. Just divide 1500 by that number and round up to the next whole number to calculate how many balls you’ll need.
